It's a wedding folks, so dress up to the nines! Don't make yourself uncomfortable though, we don't want that; all that matters to us is that you're there.

One thing to note though is that Calke Abbey is set in 67 acres of prime English countryside, dotted with sheep, fallow deer and everything that comes with that. If you want to amble around in the downtime, maybe pack an extra pair of flats.

Note: The whole day will take place in exactly the same location, so you will be able to leave your bag/jacket/spouse etc. if you don't want to carry them around with you. Just be sure not to forget them when you leave!

The wedding will take place in Calke Abbey Riding School, located inside the grounds of Calke Abbey. The Riding School is about a mile into the estate from the main entrance in Ticknall and can be found beside the National Trust shop and restaurant.

Entry to the park is free for wedding guests on the day, so upon arrival at the gates and again when entering the grounds, just let them know that you're with the wedding party. Enjoy Calke Abbey on us! 😃

Parking:

There's a free car park at Calke Abbey, just a two minute walk from the Riding School. You are welcome to leave your car there overnight and pick it up the next day.

Please note, if you are arriving in the evening you will need to enter via "Calke Abbey EXIT" as the main entrance gates are locked at 17:30. The postcode for this is LE65 1RR.

Departure:

Just like Cinderella we need to leave before midnight as the gates to the park and Abbey will be locked.

As phone signal can be unreliable, be sure to book taxi's beforehand, either via Uber, FreeNow or a local taxi service, some of which are listed below:

Stay nearby - there are plenty of places on the map. Most are under a 15 minute drive, and range from camping, boutiques, Holiday Inn, etc. so there should be something for everyone.

If you're not staying nearby, just make sure you have a designated driver or know when your last train home is.

Yes. While the bar does accept card, this is entirely dependent on mobile signal at the time so it is best to bring cash to avoid disappointment. The nearest place to take out cash is in the village of Melbourne at the Sainsbury's Local, DE73 8FE.

You won't have to choose! As long as we are aware of your dietary requirements beforehand there will be something for everyone, regardless of whether you're vegan, veggie or a full-time-carnivore.
